On September 22, 2026, Check Point published a security bulletin for CVE-2026-93616. The CVSS score read 9.8. The vulnerability class was path traversal. The precondition for exploitation was nothing — no credentials, no session token, no authenticated foothold. An attacker with network reachability to a Check Point Security Management Server, the product the vendor itself markets as the "control tower" for every firewall policy, access rule, log entry, and gateway configuration inside an enterprise, could upload and execute arbitrary scripts and load arbitrary Java classes.
I read the bulletin twice. Then I read the timeline. Active exploitation began on July 23, 2026. Public disclosure arrived on September 22. That is a sixty-one day gap. For sixty-one days, a pre-authentication remote code execution defect sat inside the single most privileged box in thousands of corporate security perimeters, and the entity best positioned to know about it did not.
The ledger bleeds where emotion replaces logic. So let us not be emotional. Let us be precise about what this actually is: a management plane that was assumed unreachable was reached. And the fastest-growing buyers of "institutional-grade" cryptographic infrastructure are about to make the same assumption.
